Spring Peaches

Spring is here!

Are you feeling fresh or depressed?

Or, perhaps, depresh?

For many, August was the longest, meanest month this year.

It was grim. It was unexpectedly cold – the forecasters gave us false hope on a warm Monday and dashed it on a foggy Tuesday morning. Colleagues were acting up at work. There were arguments about arguing. Payday seemed like it would never come. And did everyone get stray recommendations for struggle meals on their social media?

But now we’re past that month-that-shall-not-be-referred-not-from-here-on-out and onto September!

‘Tis the season for change. Take a deep breath and smell the new beginnings in the air – if you can smell that is. Hay Fever affects 20% of South Africans according to The Allergy Clinic

Speaking of new beginnings, are you ready for change?

Oh no, not that six-letter word.

Let’s talk about the other side of starting something new, trying something different, embarking on a new Era à la Taylor Swift.

So daunting, so scary, so exciting. Nerves wrecked, heart pounding, sweat running from the pores – all this at just the thought of change.

Don’t lose sight of your motivation just because the process may be complex.

Even if there are no new or significant things about to happen for you or around you, let’s try something different than the usual end-of-year slog. Let’s get out of that fatigue that usually sets in around this time.

Talk to that friend you’ve been meaning to check in on. Take a different route home (maybe not that one, please stay safe). Enter Miss South Africa now that the requirements have been changed. Go out, outside of the house. Look forward to something positive, even if it’s just that burger you’ve been craving since Monday. Do that “I should do that one day” thing.

I guess we’ve all been feeling this odd combination of “down in the dumps” and nervous excitement.

That’s okay. Sometimes life is fidgety and difficult, so do something positive and now. Small happiness(es) are underrated.

Giving yourself a break is free. Unlike KitKats which are now around R12.00.

On that thought, wouldn’t it be nice if life was chocolate?

Unless you don’t like chocolate, you heathen.

How was your September? And do you have any plans for October?

Comment here or on our social media and tell us about something you’ve always wanted to do and what might be stopping you from doing it.
