Doing it all since the beginning of time.

Maybe you call it a scarf, headwear, a kerchief, headcover, a wrap, or a turban.

But a Doek by any other name is still a Doek.

Recently, we came to the conclusion that we need to rework our head scarves. This is fine. We want to offer a product that our customers can use effectively and we’re able to innovate in this way because our products are manufactured locally. 

It does mean that we have to go out there again, into the wide wild world (okay, just South Africa) and search for the right fabric, figure out sizes, check if our material colours will be available in large quantities, etc. It feels like starting from scratch. 

And so, we bring these queries to you, our Precious’. 

If you’ve ever bought a scarf from The H Word, what would you have wanted to change? Which sizes would you like to see? Which materials do you prefer? What do you want a scarf to do for you?

We see the iconic doek depicted in media all the time, in movies, in soapies – new and old –  in music videos, on the news.

Even history books show some of the greatest queens and kings wearing doeks. 

But how do you wear your doek? 

Do you wear it when you go shopping, along with your pyjamas and slippers? No judgement.

Do you style it up for a night out?

Are doeks your saviour on a bad hair day when you haven’t had a chance to wash your hair and there’s enough grease on your scalp to fry a pan of chips?

Do you wear a scarf on the daily? Or do you wear it when you need to? When you need your hair out of your face and out of the food?
